😓 The need
#

In May 2026, I lost my job after working continuously since 2019. And there I was: unemployed and needing a job soon.

I decided to look for a job on LinkedIn. I updated my profile, one I had created back in college and where I hadn’t added anyone. I dusted it off, polished it, and updated it; I put up a generic post saying “Looking for a job,” or something like that. But weeks went by and nothing happened; I didn’t get a single interview. For me, the amazing story of finding dream jobs quickly through LinkedIn was just not happening.

I started reading about how to optimize my profile to generate genuine job offers. And talking to some friends, I found out that, apparently, posting and doing it consistently increased my reach, and that would help me find a job quickly.

I decided to post mainly about WFM, since that was what I did, or still do (go to my LinkedIn to find out the latest news about this).

I looked for examples of posts. First in WFM, then in Data Science, and then in general. In most posts, people used to make very similar publications (and I don’t mean the content per se), generic, and lacking creativity. They all seemed like a mass-produced, canned product (maybe I wasn’t following the right people); they were very superficial: images created with AI, all very similar, everything very short and direct, but that was what the forums recommended. Recruiters glance quickly, they don’t stop to read much, and people, on average, can no longer hold their attention on one thing for long, even less so if it involves reading. That doesn’t represent me.

💡 The idea arises
#

Suddenly, I had an idea: what if I create a blog and post a brief summary of the blog entries on LinkedIn? Maybe even having a blog would improve my profile too.

Yes, a blog seemed like a great idea: I like to write a lot, and being short and brief without the need for it is not my thing; with this, I can put short posts and, if they are interested in reading or delving deeper, they could go there. Thinking and meditating on what things about WFM I could post, I noticed something important: throughout my professional career, I created calculators, templates, macros, codes, automation flows, dashboards, formulas, and measures, among other things, which, once I was unemployed, I completely lost access to. Everything I had developed, solved, and learned had been completely “lost.”

Then, an idea that I call “the first second great intention” sprouted on its own. It was a process like the one Terry Pratchett describes in several of his Discworld books. The idea came to me from an external source, crossed miles of neural networks to crash right between my eyes, hard enough to let me know that, although it was in my mind, it did not belong to me. It had created itself. It felt conscious of its own. I didn’t have the slightest involvement in it. It was such an obvious thought that it claimed (and rightly so) to be the main and strongest idea: to pour as much knowledge here as I can so that I don’t lose it again and so it can be helpful to others.

This first second great intention, with its own ego, indignant because it had to come from so far away—since I didn’t seem inclined to conceive it—exploded with anger and branched out; splitting into small intentions that drove me to want to share almost everything. And in doing so, I decided to include here some short stories that I wrote a long time ago, a very long time ago. Poems too. So it is the perfect excuse to reconnect with an old passion, to be able to write and give free rein to my fingers (I would put ink and paper instead of fingers, but let’s face it: we are in the 21st century. Ink, paper, and the quill are behind us; it’s time to give a poetic and sublime meaning to writing with fingers, keys, and touch screens).

Leaving fantasy behind, I feel convinced that this idea was actually placed in me by God. I just wanted to make a couple of posts until I got a job, but God made me see that I would enjoy writing here; that this has the potential to be much more than just a step toward the next job. And that, rather, the lack of employment was something circumstantial. I should have decided much sooner to update LinkedIn and create a blog.

✝️ And what about Christ?
#

As you probably noted, I am a Christian. I decided there should be a space to share about my faith; this was born from my heart. At the time of writing this (July 2026), I still don’t know what to put in the space that my faith will occupy in this; perhaps suggestions for Christian books, reflections (which I’m not very convinced about), but I think I must include a part like this, because Christ must come first.

My knowledge and my job do not define me; Christ defines me. My identity is in Him. Therefore, if I am to write about what I know, all the more reason I must write about what I am: a servant and disciple of Christ, Lord and Savior.

😖 Why do I have to pay?
#

Making this blog has been quite an experience. From finding the right theme, the images, the ideal logos. The errors, the search for documentation, the AIs that, instead of helping you fix a bug, create a hundred more.

Buying my first domain: andresmontana.com was something completely new. It was exciting to be the owner of a domain for the first time, but it caused me frustration to know that I had to buy it. Why should I pay someone if the internet is supposed to be free? But seeing the draft of the blog published under a domain with my name next to a .com, and available to anyone, just as Wikipedia is available, was very exciting and brought me a lot of joy.

Imagine, in my country, Colombia, the name Andrés Montaña is veeeeery common; it’s incredible that no one had ever registered the domain before. I don’t believe in coincidences; I take this with faith as proof that it was in my Lord’s plans. I hope this blog allows me to make new relationships, beyond finding a new job. That no longer worries me; I believe the blog will be bigger than the goal of finding a job (that one will come or not, independent of the blog).

✨ What do I expect from this Blog?
#

I hope to connect with people, exchange ideas, form cyber-friendships, and, above all, be useful to someone, bring a smile to more than one person, and draw myself and others a little closer to God through reflection and my experiences.

If only one person finds a post or a file I share here useful, the goal will have been met. If only one person manages to reflect, think, or pick up a Bible to read because of this blog, the Lord will have been more than good to me and will have honored me by allowing me to serve Him in that way.

👋 A Christian’s Farewell:
#

May the grace of my Lord Christ Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. Amen.

God bless you. 🙏
